On 8 June 2026, the latest research findings on the schools and religious houses of the former Austrian Jesuit Province were presented at the seminar of the Institute for Austrian Historical Research (Institutsseminar des Instituts für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung) at the University of Vienna, in the form of a combined book and project presentation.

Between 17 and 25 May 2026, the Fraknói Research Group held its customary annual institutional week in Rome. As in 2023, 2024, and 2025, the Saint Stephen House (Szent István Ház) once again served as the group's base of operations, symbolically continuing the revival of the Hungarian Historical Institute in Rome. From there, participants set out each day to conduct research in the city's major archival and library collections.


2026. May 29.

On 3 June 2026, Gábor Nemes, Senior Research Fellow of the Fraknói Research Group, delivered a lecture entitled From Petition to Bull: An Introduction to Papal Diplomatics at the Archabbey of Pannonhalma as part of the Latin Diplomatic Language Seminar Week organised by the Collegium Professorum Hungarorum.

The Vilmos Fraknói Vatican Historical Research Group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Péter Pázmány Catholic University was established in the June of 2012 as the ‘Impetus’ Church History Research Group in the frame of the Church History Research Institute of the University founded by Rector Péter Erdő in 1999. It carries on independently the latter’s publications (Bibliotheca Historiae Ecclesiasticae Universitatis Catholicae de Petro Pázmány Nuncupatae) and researches in Rome and in Vienna, with the involvement of academic and other funding sources.
