On 20 April 2026, the public doctoral defence of György Sági, research assistant—now research fellow—and scientific secretary of the Fraknói Research Group, was held at the Doctoral School of History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Pázmány Péter Catholic University.
The public defence of his PhD dissertation, entitled The History of the Archdiocese of Kalocsa–Bács during the Episcopal Governance of Archbishop József Grősz (1943–1961), was conducted before a committee chaired by György Domokos, with Barnabás Guitman serving as secretary. The official opponents were Mons. Tamás Tóth and Andor Lakatos, while the committee members included Miklós Jávor and Viktor Kanász.
Both the choice of topic and its execution offer an exemplary illustration of those identity-specific research opportunities and responsibilities that constitute one of the central missions of a Catholic university. The pursuit of such scholarly tasks likewise stands at the core of the activity of the Fraknói Research Group, of which the candidate has been an increasingly important member in various capacities for nearly a decade and a half.
The dissertation was awarded the highest distinction, summa cum laude (100%), by the committee.
Supervisor: Péter Tusor.
