Participation in the Latest Volume of the PUGW

The editorial board of the series Publikationen der Ungarischen Geschichtsforschung in Wien (PUGW) held its annual working meeting in Vienna on 28 November. András Oross, who became series editor in 2021 (a position that did not exist before), reported on the results achieved in 2025 alongside outlining future plans. The most important of these is the publication of the volume edited by István Fazekas and Zsófia Kádár, focusing on the history of the University of Nagyszombat:
Höhere Bildung in den Jesuitenschulen Mitteleuropas am Beispiel der Universität von Tyrnau (PUGW XXIV), Vienna 2025.

The volume includes studies by two members of the Fraknói Research Group, Péter Tusor and Róbert Oláh, titled:
Pázmány’s University Foundation and the Problem of Its Papal Recognition (pp. 155–170)
The Educational Background of the Canons of the Győr (Raab) Cathedral Chapter between 1658 and 1783 (pp. 245–261)

The Viennese specialist series of Hungarian historical research was launched in 2009, building on the intellectual and typographical know how of the Collectanea Vaticana Hungariae, at the initiative and under the organisation of István Fazekas and Péter Tusor. The CVH’s Roman twin series was presented in Hungary in 2018. One of its most significant volumes was introduced last spring at the Hungarian Embassy in Vienna, housed in the former palace of the Hungarian Court Chancellery.

As the website of the Viennese series (pugw.at) is still under development, we are publishing here the e-book version of PUGW vol. XXIV.
